Sunday, June 4th, we had our 17th Annual Hope Cures 5K!! Mother Nature held off just long enough for our runners and walkers to make back into the Inn for our “cook-in” lunch. We had strong participation regardless of the weather with close to 300 people taking on the challenging course.
Our overall winners defended their status as the fastest on the course once again this year; Tyler Wirth & Tiffany Levanthol. Our Stroller Division Champion was Sue Guccini & Our Top Fundraiser was Tracy-Lynn Pagan and her support team who raised over $1400!!!!
The Springs Sports Complex conducted a new class, BOGAFIT and donated the $$ raised from those who participated to the cause as well – thank you!!!
I would like to thank all of our volunteers for their time and effort in making the event a success! You all make it seem easy even when we have close to 200 people who registered the day of the event!!
Several of our vendors consistently support the event as well which allows us to donate 95% of the $ that we raise!! Thank you to Pocono Pro Foods, SYCO Foodservice, PEPSI, C&C Equipment Rental, Brucelli Advertising, Bold Gold Media & Boars Head!!
The 5K benefits the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute and is part of the three annual events the Hope Cures Effort conducts annually. To date we have given back $1.3 million to fight cancer – a tribute to all of you who have participated!!
Thank you all who participated – great job! I look forward to seeing you at the next event!!
About the BK5K
One of our most popular events is the Hope Cures 5K RUN/WALK! The 5K start/finish is located at The Inn at Woodloch. The course winds through Woodloch Resort’s property and along a private lake. The local community is invited to join in the event! All ages and levels can participate with awards for each division and something special for all kids 10 & under! Many run in memory of, or in support of someone who is/was impacted by cancer. It is a fun/healthy event that has a deeper meaning for many who join us…..
The entry price entitles participants to a gift, water, Gatorade, chip timing system (thanks to Fast Finishes!), prizes and an outdoor luncheon after the 5K. The outdoor luncheon after the race is a favorite! Plenty of good healthy food while eating outdoors (except for the cookies!), comparing times with others or just enjoying the outdoors with friends and family!
The HC5K’s proceeds benefit the Penn State Hershey Medical Center
Take a look back at our 2017 event and set your goals. Can you beat your time in 2018?
Thank you to all our volunteers and the Woodloch Team for making our HC5K a wonderful event!
The 2018 BK5K will be held Sunday June 3, 2018!
